About Fluid Focus Retreats
Welcome to Fluid Focus Freediving & Yoga Retreats, a concept born of motivated people sitting still on a paradise island. Freediving is a way of connecting to yourself in a way that extends much further than depth and time. It provides an opportunity to learn more about yourself. We currently run retreats in multiple locations around Indoneisa, read on to see our program details.
With our Fluid Focus Retreat, you will learn the fundamentals of freediving and a wide array of topics that apply to everyday life. With our trialed combination of modalities, we provide guests with an immersive experience designed to leave a lasting impression. It’s more than just Freediving; we combine yoga, meditation, breath and nutrition into a carefully curated expedition.
From Pranayama to the incredible feats of weird-looking marine mammals, you will be inspired by every workshop and dazzled with your inherent abilities. All of this is done with elegant and comfortable style. Our retreats are designed for freedivers of all levels, from those just beginning to anyone wanting to hone their skills in the water.
Watch the video below for a glimpse of our teaching ethos, our passion, and our water-based focus.
Our Freediving Philosophy
These retreats were created with the concept that everyone can learn to freedive, and by doing so, can change their lives for the better. We don’t aim for depth. We don’t dive for numbers. We challenge ourselves to focus on the process of getting there. After all, we could all use a little more of this present-moment thing, right?
Join us for a week of creativity, inspiration, community, and everything wet. Sure, we freedive with the mantas, some turtles, and some super healthy reef systems - but our favorite place is in the middle of the Big Blue. Only there do we understand things a little bit more clearly. Once we have the tools, with training and dedication, we can continue to unravel these simple mysteries.

The Tools We Use
Fluid Focus retreats are crafted around the idea that freediving is a step through the door to a more balanced and relaxed life. We combine water work with other modalities, including yoga, breathwork, meditation, and mindset training. Through these potent combinations, we give participants an arsenal of tools to take away to help them both in and out of the water.
Some of the most important topics we cover in workshops and exercises:
Techniques to help manage anxiety and stress
Breathing practices to aid in overall nervous system health
Practices to help calm the mind, priming it for sleep, meditation, or freediving
Body Awareness techniques to help cultivate a more harmonious body/mind connection
Nutritional planning to help guests balance their consumption and track their energy
The Art of Letting Go, as it relates to freediving, the mind, and the tension we hold in our body

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. In fact, opening up the world of freediving and ocean therapy to newbies is one of our favorite things to do. Regardless of the outcome, we are confident participants will walk away with tremendous insight as to how the breath, body, and water combine to empower us. Retreats are designed to provide value to guests of all levels of experience.
-
Equalization can be a tricky part of any freediving course, but with proper preparation, time and relaxation techniques, many students can overcome this challenge. Our instructors are adeptly trained to help guests overcome a variety of obstacles. We provide resources for participants to study before the retreat, and personalized workshops and training for those who need more.
-
Believe it or not, we ask guests to leave the goals at the door (or on the boat ride over) and focus on the process. Freediving is one of the few sports we have encountered where having a strong expectation or goal can create a barrier. Instead, we approach the process with a healthy amount of action, training, and surrender. This doesn’t mean we aren’t going to work, it just means we are going to do so in a constructive manner that emphasizes the learning process.
If a goal is necessary, let it be to arm yourself with techniques that will benefit you in various walks of life, enjoy the ocean therapy, and invigorate yourself with a community of like-minded water lovers. -
We are constantly monitoring energy levels- Freediving is deceivingly exhausting. Most retreat days consist of morning yoga followed by 3-4 hours of freedive practice and training. Afternoons and evenings are reserved for workshops and personalized coaching, as well as adequate rest time. We give guests a dry day in the middle of the week to rest their ears, see the island, or partake in optional activities should they have the energy.

You bet, our more budget option is called the Freediving Camp. It offers a less rigid itinerary, with more independent planning. See details for this program here.
