8- Day Freedive Program

Week program starts every Tuesday and Friday, in line with our standard 2.5 day courses.

If students have the time, we HIGHLY recommend taking part in the week-long itinerary, which we hope to evolve into a very tasty bread-and-butter program.

Freediving | Yoga | Meditation | Community | NeuroConservation

Our weekly training program was born out of a very scientific realization: two or three days is just not enough. The standard beginner course? Great for learning the basics. Terrible for actually feeling like you know what you’re doing. We kept thinking, what if students had more time, more ocean, and more community… and fewer “oh no, it’s already over?” moments?

Enter what we lovingly call “Freedive Rehab.” A check-in, check-out program where you can stay for a week (or two, or three) and properly marinate in the sport. No rushing, no pressure—just steady progression, salty hair, and a front-row seat to how freediving feels when you actually get to settle in.

The Weekly Breakdown

Day 1Day one
Orientation & arrival

Students settle in, meet the team, and cover the foundational theory. The afternoon brings the first pool session — no pressure, no performance expectations. The goal is simply to begin feeling at home.

Day 2Dive day
First open water

The first open water session takes place today, alongside a second pool session. Yoga is available throughout the week at local studios on the island — students schedule it around the freediving, so it becomes part of a daily practice rather than an add-on.

Day 3Dive day
Breathwork deep dive

The second open water session, followed by the first dedicated workshop: an exploration of the breathwork techniques that underpin everything in the program. Understanding why breath changes everything is as important as practising it.

Day 4Rest
Rest day

This is not a concession — it is structural. Rest allows the ears to recover and the nervous system to consolidate what it has learned. Students explore the island, attend a yin yoga class, and process what they have been experiencing. Rest is built into the regulatory arc on purpose.

Something shifts

The third open water session returns, with another workshop layered in. By this point, something has usually shifted. Progress that felt theoretical begins to feel real.

Integration

The fourth open water session brings greater comfort with depth. The connection between breath, body, and mind — which instructors have been pointing toward since day one — starts to feel less like an idea and more like a felt experience.

Day 7Dive day
Buddy diving

Advanced techniques are introduced alongside buddy diving — the practice of diving safely with a partner. This is not just a technical skill. It is a shift in orientation: from individual performance to relational responsibility. The ocean becomes a shared space.

The manta rays

One full day freediving alongside the resident manta rays that inhabit the waters around Nusa Lembongan. This is where students realise — usually without needing to be told — that the eight days were worth it.

Our 8-day program is designed to slow things down and give you the space to actually fall in love with freediving—not just tick a certification box. Over the week, you’ll settle into the freediving lifestyle: daily yoga, breathwork, meditation, simple nutrition practices, and plenty of ocean time that reminds you why you’re here.

For those chasing certifications, we’ve got you. We meet you exactly where you’re at—whether that’s “I’ve never held my breath” or “I want to push my limits safely.” Our instructors teach with a holistic mindset, blending technical skill with mindfulness so progression feels natural, not forced. Depth and time aren’t the endgame; enjoying the process is. Ironically, that’s when the real breakthroughs happen.

We’ve built an environment where you can drop the pressure, manage expectations, and actually enjoy the challenges that come with learning. Freediving isn’t just about going deeper; it’s about reshaping how you relate to yourself, your breath, and the ocean. Curious what that feels like? Watch the video below—we think it explains it better than words ever could.

Combine Freediving with Surfing and Yoga

Looking to make your time on Nusa Lembongan even more unforgettable? You can now turn your training into a complete ocean experience by adding surf lessons with our trusted partner, WeSurf. Whether you’re brand new to surfing or looking to refine your skills, this is the perfect complement to your freediving journey—balancing time below the surface with time riding waves above it.

Choose between single surf lessons or discounted packages of five sessions. It’s a seamless way to create your own freedive, yoga, and surf retreat—blending breath, movement, and ocean awareness into one holistic experience. Surfing not only builds ocean confidence and body awareness, but also brings a playful, dynamic energy that pairs beautifully with the calm, internal focus of freediving and yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Our instructors will meet students where they are, and will help them achieve any certification goal they have. While completing level 1 and level 2 in one week is challenging, students who are in fulfilment of the performance requirements may do so. It is likely that students wishing to complete both levels will have to book additional coaching sessions (offered at a discounted rate), or join us for an additional week (also at a discounted rate).

  • As many as you would like! We are a pretty cool community (or we like to think so), and the island of Nusa Lembongan is a great place to chill. Students are encouraged to stay for multiple weeks if time allows. Additional weeks are offered at discounted rates.

  • Everyone. It is our hope that someday soon, all of our programs will be one week long (minimum), as we feel that it gives students a better opportunity to learn. We want everyone to experience the “lightbulb” moments of freediving- those moments where we feel completely at peace with ourselves and the ocean.

  • As much as we would love to live full time in the water, we have to ground ourselves on land to perform optimally in the ocean. That means we need rest, recovery and integration. These things are often understated wen learning to freedive, so we make sure to emphasize them during the process.
